Unboxing
The packaging looks familiar, it looks almost the same as the older model Zenfone 2 box. Which we think is good since most users are familiar with it. Time to open it up and take a look at the new Zenfone 3 Max and see what’s inside the box.
Sliding the box reveal the fresh looking Zenfone 3 max in plastic wrap. The box also contains the accessories like the USB 2.0 OTG cable, micro USB data/charging cable, ZenEar with mic, extra eartips (small, medium, large), SIM ejector tool and 2A fast charging USB wall charger.
Design and Construction
In terms of design, it is definitely an upgrade. It features a unibody design which composed of brushed aluminum metal that feels good to hold on hand. At the front is the 5.5-inch Full-HD display contoured with (2.5D) glass.
The 5.5-inch full HD IPS display just looks great, with 450nits brightness that is great for viewing even under the brightest light conditions indoor or outdoor. It only has 2.25mm bezel and remarkable 77.5% screen-to-body ratio, making it looks slim.
It looks like the display does not have Gorilla glass on top for protection which is a downgrade, now it definitely needs a screen protection to avoid getting those ugly scratches on screen.
Power Button and Volume control at the right side
Hybrid SIM card and microSD card Tray at the left side
micro USB port, speaker grill, and microphone
At the top are the 3.5mm audio jack and another microphone
The 16-megapixel rear camera, f2/0, with laser focus and dual tone flash and below it is the fingerprint sensor
The 8-megapixel front facing (selfie) camera f/2.2
first Impressions
It terms of design, it’s definitely an upgrade this device looks sexy and premium even though it is packed with 4,000mAh battery. The 5.5-inch display looks crisp with 2.5D curved glass, also the back the camera does not protrude so it looks clean together with the LED light and laser auto-focus light.
Compared to the first Max that has a 5,000mAh battery the Zenfone 3 Max only has 4,000mAh which is a downgrade, this could be because ASUS wants to keep it slim and encased in a unibody design. Overall this new Max really is a nice looking smartphone and since it’s powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (Octa-core) CPU for sure it can handle those popular games and apps that everyone loves. Overall this device really looks awesome and poweful compared to its predessesor.
