The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct the exam test of Combined Higher Secondary Level examination (CHSL). The entrance exam will be for several posts. Candidates need to fullfill the eligibility criteria. Only the eligible candidates can apply for examination.

The exam will be conducted for recruitment for posts like Postal Assistants/Sorting Assistants, Data Entry Operators and Lower Divisional Clerks. This year, SSC has made some changes in the scheme of SSC CHSL 2016 exam. The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test i.e online mode. One modificaton, a new tier i.e Descriptive Test has been added to the scheme of examination.

About SSC : Staff Selection Commission is government organization under government of India for the recruitment of the staff for various posts in the various ministries and departments of the government of India and in subordinate offices. SSC is an associate office of Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) which consists of chairman, two members and a Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations.

Eligibility criteria for SSC (CHSL) 2016 exam given below :

Educational Qualifications:

1. Candidates must have passed minimum 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized Board or University.

2. Certificate obtained through open school / university, must be recognized by Distance Education Council (DEC) IGNOU.

3. Candidates, who entitled for typing test / skill test, are required to produce the original documents, cast certificate(if applicable).

4. Candidates who failed to produce the original documents he/she will be rejected.

5. Candidates who wish to be considered under the reserved category or seeking age relaxation, he/she will have to submit required certificate from the competent authority, in the prescribed format at the time of Skill Test. Otherwise, their claim for SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex- Servicemen status will not be entertained and their applications will be considered under General category.

6. Candidates are warned that they may be permanently disqualified from the examinations conducted by the SSC, in case they found claiming SC/ST/OBC/Ex- Servicemen/ PH status falsely.

Age Limit:

Required age limit for the SSC CHSL exam is 18 to 27 years as on 1 August 2016, date of birth proof may be provided through birth certificate or class 10th passing certificate.

Nationality: Candidate must be either:

a) citizen of India, or

b) subject of Nepal, or

c) subject of Bhutan, or

d) Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settle down in India, or

e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from, Burma, Sri Lanka ,Pakistan, East African Countries such as Kenya, Zaire ,Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settle down in India.
