Kentucky quarterback Mac Jones made a giant leap in Rivals updated recruiting rankings. Previously unranked, the four-star prospect is now ranked as the #165 player in the nation on the Rivals250, the #8 pro-style quarterback.

When Jones committed to Kentucky, he was an unheralded three-star recruit.  Kentucky was only his third offer.  Now he’s a four-star with 22 scholarship offers, four from other SEC schools — Alabama, Texas A&M, Mizzou and Ole Miss.  Rivals’ Rob Cassidy explains Jones’ rising stardom.

“The Kentucky commit had as good an offseason as any prospect in the country. He shined in 7-on-7 work and in camp settings. He throws a good ball and can be quite a weapon when things are going well. The only knock on Jones is that he tends to let things spiral downward when they begin to go wrong.”

Jones spent last weekend in Oregon, competing in Nike’s Elite 11 quarterback camp.  This weekend he’ll showcase his skills inside the Georgia Dome at Rivals’ Five-Star Challenge.  You should be hearing more from Jones soon.
