The Brit Awards have already
taken shape and earned a place in our diary due to the all-star line-up that
will perform, which includes Adele, Coldplay, Justin Bieber AND Little Mix – but
now, the moment that we have all been waiting for has arrived, the nominations
list is here!

Adele looks set to take the
limelight this year as she has earned herself four nominations this year. Her
multi-million-selling album ‘25’ is up for ‘Best British Album’, while she has
also been shortlisted for ‘Best British Female / Single / Video.’ The soulful
singer is a hot favourite, especially after her third album sold 2.5 million
copies in the UK in its first six weeks.

Pop trio Years & Years
join the 27-year old singer in the race as they have also been listed in four
categories for ‘British Group’, ‘British Breakthrough Act’, ‘British Single’
and ‘British Artist Video of the Year.’

After the announcement,
singer Olly Alexander said: “It’s really ridiculous. I don’t know what’s
happening. It’s nuts.” Whilst bassist Mikey Goldsworthy added: “It’s too
much pressure. That’s four times the anxiety. Sitting there and waiting for
them to read the card.”

Last year’s BRITs Critics
Choice Award winner James Bay proves to be some competition for the group as he
is nominated for four awards within three of the same categories, swapping out
‘British Group’ for ‘British Male Solo Artist.’

The ‘Best British Group’
category has been filled with One Direction, Coldplay, Foals and Blur, who have
received their first Brit nomination in 12 years.

The late Amy Winehouse has
received a nomination for ‘Best British Female’ following last year’s release
of the soundtrack to a documentary film about her life.

The ceremony is also set to
pay tribute to David Bowie following his death on Sunday. Geoff Taylor, chief
executive of the BPI, told BBC News it would be “a fitting tribute to someone who’s
an absolute icon of the British music industry,” but remained tight-lipped on
what we should expect, adding: “I’m not going to go into the details – but we
are very focused on honouring his legacy to British music.”
