Jacob Laukaitis was born and raised in Eastern Europe, but had never explored the nearby Balkans, a beautiful part of Southeastern Europe that gets it’s name from the Balkan Mountains running right through it.

So he bought a 1992 Honda motorbike and set off on a 4 week adventure road trip. The trip culminated in the great video edit above—a stitched collage of POV wild motorbiking and some cleverly edited travel scenes. If this doesn’t make you want to get a bike and ride into the wild, I don’t know what will. We caught up with Jacob to find out more about the trip.

What were the reasons behind the trip?

“I have never been to the Balkans before and I thought it’d be great to learn more about them, so I bought a motorbike and embarked on the trip.”

What motorbike did you buy for the trip?

“It’s a very old Honda Dominator (NX650), made in 1992. However, people say they are unbreakable, which is close to the truth.”

Do you have any favourite moments or places you visited along the way?

“I really enjoyed driving down the coast of Croatia; riding the best mountain passes in Europe—Transfagarasan and Transalpina in Romania; exploring the ancient town of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina; checking out the the UNESCO heritage site Meteora in Greece; and so much more!”

Do you have plans for your next adventure?

“I’ll be traveling all around Japan on trains for about 3 weeks; I’ll be living in the slums of Mumbai for a week; I should be able to spend 1 month motorbiking across New Zealand; and a 3 month-long trip around China. That should be finished by the beginning of the Summer of 2016.”
