Tomas Barfod’s new album, ‘Love Me,’ is set for release 9th June, (10th in the US.) A DJ and producer, hailing from Denmark, his music in three words reads like a sofa advert, DFS: dynamic, flawless and synth-loving.

Having played the drums since the age of 10, Barfod knows the power of a strong bass line. Building with an arpeggiated line, he builds textures of synths and percussion before introducing the smooth often haunting tones of the lyricist.

Whilst claiming to create ‘computer music,’ ‘Love Me’ appears to be a step away from the screen. He says “a lot of the production ha[s] happened outside the computer. I have been playing around with analog synths and live-drums, but also been drawing a lot on musician friends for adding a human touch.” His brilliant EP, ‘Pulsing,’ which was released last month, featured a collaboration with Nina K on the song of the same name and his album is set to feature vocals from further artists including  Luke Temple from ‘Here We Go Magic,’ and Winston Yellen from ‘Night Beds.’

Releasing his first album ‘Salton Sea’ in 2012, on the label Friends of Friends, Barfod has recently been signed by ‘Secretly Canadian,’ whose artists include ‘Major Lazer,’ and ‘The War on Drugs,’ and his large back catalogue of successes includes having produced remixes for artists such as ‘Bloc Party’ and ‘Gorillaz,’ and playing in top international venues including Fabric in London and Panorama Bar in Berlin.

Barfod has been confirmed for Sunday’s line-up at this year’s Field Day, 8th June, in London. He will be joining those including Pixies, Telegram and Future Island. For a preview of the new album, Barfod has shared a mini-mix on Soundcloud.
