Your first Christmas together as husband and wife should be extra special. You’ve now become your own family and are starting your own holiday traditions. One fun tradition that you can include is creating an ornament to celebrate the occasion! Using our free printable and a Cricut machine these DIY newlywed ornaments are easy and will add a memorable element to your tree for years to come. There’s still time to make these ornaments so grab your Cricut supplies, pop in Mariah Carey Christmas tunes and get crafting!

Cricut is one of the easiest tools I have ever used to create homemade gifts and DIY projects. You can easily design your own graphics and print within minutes. Follow my steps and you will realize that there is no learning curve, it’s that easy! First you will need to download our free printable (DOWNLOAD HERE). Next open up the Cricut Design Space and click create a new project. Click on the cloud icon to the left that says upload images. Find our jpeg on your computer labeled Newlywed Christmas and upload to Design Space. Next you will need to the select the image type. This file is black type on a white background so select simple image. Once your image has uploaded you will need to select and erase the white space. This lets your Cricut know which areas are negative space and need to be cut. Zoom in to get the smaller areas like the swoop in the letter M. Save your file as a cut image and insert in your new project on Design Space. Drag your file open to 4″ by 4″. This is the perfect size for a large Christmas ornament. That’s all there is to the design, now you are ready to cut! Add your gold glitter vinyl to the cutting mat and move your Cricut dial to vinyl. Load your cutting mat and press the flashing Cricut button to begin cutting! Once your Cricut has finished cutting out your ornament design use the weeding tool to carefully remove the negative space. Be very careful around the diamond as it is delicate! Now that your design is cut out use strong grip transfer tape to separate the design from the backing. Cut a small square of transfer tape that just fits over your design. Remove the transfer tape backing and place the sticky side down on your design. Carefully peel up to remove your design. Center the transfer tape over your Christmas ornament. Carefully press your design onto the ornament while you remove the transfer tape.
