Passengers transiting through Doha, Qatar, can now make a 96 hour stopover in the country assuming they have a minimum transit time of five hours at Hamad International Airport.

That works out to four days and nights to explore one of the most fascinating cities in the Middle East.

It also gives travelers traveling between Qatar Airways’ extensive route system a chance to break up their journies between continents.

Doha serves as a hub for connecting flights between Africa, the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and South America.

Passengers do not need to apply for a transit visa in advance.

Under the previous transit visa scheme, travelers needed to have a layover of at least eight hours, and they could only spend up to 48 hours, or two days, in Qatar.

Qatar transit visas are issued free of charge upon arrival at Hamad International Airport. Passengers of all nationalities are eligible.

Passengers are required to show proof of an onward journey and complete standard passport control procedures. All visas are approved and issued at the sole discretion of the Ministry of Interior.
