ibis Styles Samui Chaweng Beach is scheduled to open in early 2017. It will be the brand's third property in Thailand.

The hotel will have 129 rooms. Room rates will include breakfast and internet access.

“The resort's ground-floor bar, lobby, and market-style restaurant will encourage social interactions, while the swimming pool and rooftop bar will offer iconic selfie moments,” a press release issued by AccorHotels says.

The resort is targeted at both business and leisure travelers, who are young, hip, and budget-conscious.

The hotel will be the third ibis Styles hotel in Thailand. Five more ibis Styles resorts are planned:

ibis Styles Bangkok Sukhumvit 50,

ibis styles Bangkok Khaosan Viengtai,

ibis Styles Chiang Khong Teak Garden,

ibis Styles Phuket Phokeethra,

ibis Styles South Pattaya.

The resort hotel will be located in the same development as the Hard Rock Cafe Samui and next to Central Festival Samui, Koh Samui’s premier shopping mall.

During a recent press trip to Koh Samui, we were taken first to the island’s Old Town, which was full of shops catering to tourists.

We were taken to Central Festival Samui on the last night of our tour.

While this upscale shopping mall was targeted more at local shoppers than foreign tourists, I actually found better bargains (and higher quality) at its fixed priced shops and boutiques than I did at the run-down shops in Old Town, where you were expected to bargain.

The resort is a two-minute walk to Chaweng Beach, the most popular Koh Samui beach, which is lined with numerous hotels, resorts, restaurants, and bars.

The hotel will be a 10-minute drive from Samui International Airport, which is served by a handful of airlines.

There is nonstop airline service to domestic travel destinations such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket.

There are also international airline flights to such regional travel destinations as Chongqing, China; Hong Kong; Kunming, China; and Singapore.

Destination Resorts

AccorHotels will manage the hotel in partnership with Destination Resorts Company, Limited.

The hotel will be the fourth property managed by AccorHotels in partnership with Destination Resorts.

The hotel group also manages Novotel Hua Hin Cha Am Beach Resort, Novotel Phuket Karon Beach Resort and Spa, and Novotel Phuket Surin Beach Resort, which was rebranded in April 2016.
