I’ve found that it’s super simple to make my own coffee shop drinks at home. Iced chai is incredibly easy to make. And it’s delicious.

As a homeschooling mom, sometimes I feel a little cooped up at home. So if I’m out grocery shopping or headed to an appointment on my own, I like to spend gift cards on frou frou drinks at coffee shops.

For the majority of the year, I love iced drinks … iced lattes, iced mochas and iced chais. While I love sipping the sweet splurges, I shudder at the price tags. Four dollars for a cup of ice and a drink? Really?!

I’ve found that it’s super simple to make my own coffee shop drinks at home. That way, I can save my money, make it anytime of the day, and skip some unwanted ingredients – like mounds of whipped cream.

Iced chai is incredibly easy to make. And it’s delicious.

The first step is finding your favorite kind of chai tea bag. Get ready to do a lot of taste testing, because there are a lot of varieties out there. My personal favorite is Stash’s Organic Chai.

Once you’ve chosen your chai, gather some raw honey, milk and lots of ice.

Brew your tea. Once it’s as strong as you’d like, add as much honey as you’d prefer. At this point, you can let it cool and then add the milk and ice.

Or, if you can’t wait, while your sweetened chai is still hot, add the milk. Then add plenty of ice to chill it.
