Joke: Following the Queen's amusing response to Mr Trudeau's speech, the British Monarchy Twitter account uploaded a post about the incident. It posted a photo of the beaming monarch, alongside the caption: 'Thank you, @JustinTrudeau, for making me feel so old!"

Response: Mr Trudeau tweeted back: 'On the contrary, you are forever young. I was honoured to toast your lifetime of service tonight'

The Queen has flashed her sense of humour at a banquet, thanking Canada's youthful new leader for making her 'feel so old'. The British monarch today wrapped up a nostalgic visit to Malta, where she formerly lived while her husband, Prince Philip, was in the Royal Navy.

Last night, she was toasted by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting banquet on the island. Mr Trudeau, 43, joked that he is not the youngest prime minister but the newest, before recounting the 89-year-old Queen's previous visits to Canada.

He quipped that Her Majesty has 'seen more of Canada than most Canadians' - prompting a cheeky response from the monarch.

Addressing the room of the Corinthia Hotel, she said: 'As Head of the Commonwealth, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you all here this evening.' But she then added: 'Thank you, Mr Prime Minister of Canada, for making me feel so old.'  Click link for full post from The Daily Mail.
