This is the time of year when the frenetic pace of the holidays begins to kick in. Well, this year I am officially stating I am going to try not to get caught up in it. Wish me luck! With that came this simple yet stylish Thanksgiving table setting that I know you will be able to recreate with just a few tips and hints from me. You will be amazed at where some of these pieces came from and most of it I already had. Stay tuned at the bottom of this post because I will give you some shopping links in case you do not have these pieces in your home.
This year we are not having a ton of people at our dinner so we will be sitting here in a less formal setting in the breakfast room. I think it is a bit more intimate and cozy feeling here! Recently we got this bamboo bench at a flea market for a steal (eh em . . . $50!) I popped on some of my favorite pillows and it has found a home right here now.
So you ready for some tips and hints??
Tip 1:
First up is a table linen. If you do not own a white table cloth just use a bed sheet. This is not my dining room so I had no need to pull out my linen table cloth this year. This works just as well and is easy to throw in the wash and bleach.
Tip 2:
This little (well big!) guy came from a antique store. Shop your local antique malls for some unusual pieces to make your table have a whimsical feel. I adore him and he has a few imperfections but that is what I love about old pieces. They are not perfect. Reminds us that neither are we and we should be thankful for what we have and who we are.
These gorgeous amber glasses also came from a thrift store. They were only $1 a piece. Such a great deal and I know I will use them for years to come.
Tip 3:
Use faux florals across the table. Will you believe these florals and wide burlap ribbon came from Walmart?!! I know, right? Shocker but they actually have a decent floral section. Though not large like the craft stores, you can still find some pretty florals for a good price. My little grape vine pumpkins are a find from years ago but I’ve linked some below for you.
Tip 4:
Make a simple table setting. I know easier said than done but here are a few ideas. Lay your napkin on a plate and add a point of interest. This can either be the silverware wrapped with a ribbon, pinecones in a little vase (like what is below), or even a simple place card with a pumpkin. I think simple is always better. It is going to be removed before they eat so the less fussy the better don’t you think??
Tip 5:
Personalize your space. I added a little banner to each of the place settings too for a personal touch.
They each say something different; Thankful, Grateful, Blessed. I simply printed these out on some cardstock, cut them out and placed them in between the pinecones.

Another DIY project I created to help personalize my table are these little cards for everyone to fill out. You will die but this is too easy! I cut up a paper grocery bag into stripes and used a sharpie to draw out my lines and text at the top. Done! I already had these wood pencils in my craft closet and I just added them to a milk glass bowl to pass around. I love to have everyone read these out during dinner!
Lastly I used our chalkboard sign to write a quote that embodies Thanksgiving to me. I love this saying and we look at this all the time.
