The Lodge at Pico Bonito in Honduras’ Pico Bonito National Park

With over three decades of industry experience, our luxury PR firm understands the importance of carefully planning press release topics and pitch angles to target not just the short lead time online outlets, but also the long lead magazines and newspapers. Just this week, we distributed our latest roundup press release for five boutique luxury hotel clients in the Caribbean announcing the Caribbean’s top travel destinations for 2014.

With an eye on securing placements on coveted emerging destination lists, such as the New York Times annual list of “46 Places to Visit” in a given year, we tenaciously researched statistics to validate our claims. Leveraging claims citing World Tourism Organization statistics made by the chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Association, our luxury public relations agency proved that Caribbean tourism growth is continuing to outpace the rest of the world in 2013 and will continue to be an international hot spot in the coming year.

Supporting Claims with Hard Facts, The Example of Honduras

With a focus on highlighting the specific Caribbean regions in which our hotel clients operate, our savvy team focused on finding facts to support predictions made by the regional travel experts at Prohotel International. Utilizing our expertise in luxury travel public relations, we know just how much of a difference hard facts can make in capturing the attention of journalists and promoting the media’s interest in a particular story.

Birdwatchers travel to new destinations, like Pico Bonito, to uncover new birdwatching opportunities

For instance, Honduras remains for the most part a relatively undiscovered natural paradise for travelers interested in adventure and nature activities, particularly birding. Our client, The Lodge at Pico Bonito, is an eco lodge located on over 400 acres of rainforest in the country’s second largest national park. With multiple story observation towers, naturalist guides and over 400 species of birds already spotted on site, it is one of the world’s premier bird watching destinations. Approaching the angle from the perspective of a journalist, we searched for facts to demonstrate why travelers, particularly birders, would visit now.

Of course, the fact that Honduras is just emerging and is not overrun by tourists like the nearby Costa Rica, certainly is alone a reason to visit. However, we also happened upon facts that demonstrated thoroughly how birding itself is growing in popularity, with more and more bird watchers willing to travel for the activity. According to statistics derived from a Birding Trends survey conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Forest Service, birding ranks as the 15th most popular and the fastest growing outdoor recreational activity in the United States. Additionally, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reports that 40 percent of birders are willing to travel to discover new bird watching opportunities. With such solid evidence, we look forward to securing Pico Bonito’s placement on coveted destination lists over the next few months.
