NEWBERRY (Newberry SID) – The Newberry men’s basketball team has rescheduled their upcoming nonconference game vs. Benedict on Monday, December 12th.
The game will be moved to Monday, Jan. 16th. Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m. from Eleazer Arena.
The teams agreed to postpone the contest out of respect for Benedict junior guard Rashee Hodges, who passed away early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run accident outside Columbia. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10 at 11:00 a.m.in Walterboro at Colleton County High School, Hodges’ alma mater.
Hodges was a first-year team captain who recently transferred to Benedict from USC Salkehatchie, where he was coached by current Newberry assistant Jay Reid.
Newberry will travel to Anderson on Saturday, December 10th to take on the Trojans. Tip-off is slated for 8:00 p.m.
