The project no. P402-12-0982 of the Czech Science Foundation, entitled “Trade Flows in Times of Economic Boom and Slump: Modifying the Gravity Model for Country, Time and Product-Specific Decision-Making”, that was researched jointly by the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University (main researcher Doc. Vladimír Benáček) and the AAU (main and visiting researcher Prof. Peter Egger), received the final evaluation rank of “excellent” as one of the best research projects in social sciences in the country. The final report stressed that out of the 22 confirmed publications the majority appeared in highly ranked international journals. Actually, some were in the top-notch A+ world journals of economics. The publications include (among others) the Journal of International Economics (two papers), Oxford Economic Papers, Economica of LSE (with a forthcoming publication in 2016) and Empirical Economics (4 papers). With this record and with so many impact points, AAU can be ranked the best private university in terms of economic research in the Czech Republic for 2015. Professor Egger, representing AAU although not teaching for us, is a renowned Austrian/Swiss scholar, one of the best empirical economists in Europe.
