1. Transactions of property
For any property transfers, no one has gone cashless and paperless like the state of Maharashtra. Especially in Mumbai, for renting a property you can go to www.igrmaharashtra.gov.in and enter the banks, Aadhar & Biometric Details and digital signatures along with property documents. Not only this, the tenants with the witness can do the same at any point of time to make the life easier. The fess for the same will be paid electronically where all the documents will be stored in Aadhar-operated locker. So basically Aadhar has enabled a step towards making the property transaction paperless as well as presence-less.
2. Income Tax Returns
The income tax department allows residents to e-verify income tax returns using Aadhaar. This eliminates the need to send a physical signed income tax return form to the Central Processing Centre. The user now only needs to link his/her Aadhaar number to the respective e-filing account. Once this is done, the Aadhaar number will be linked with their PAN after validation through a one-time password.
3. Healthcare
For prioritizing Health Care and making its access easier, Aadhaar helps in exchanging data about patients across internal systems of the provider network as well as with other laboratories and pharmacies. There is also availability of e-hospital service allowing the residents to just book an appointment by using their Aadhar card in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) or any Government hospital online.
In fact a lot of facilities are even using Aadhaar to track absenteeism of doctors and nurses, using biometric markers.
4. Booking Temple Rituals
The administration in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati temple, one of the largest and richest places of religious worship in India, recently made Aadhaar mandatory for booking the coveted ritual known as Angapradakshinam, for which the demand is huge but the tickets are limited. The whole purpose is to make sure that the same person is not using the facility repeatedly.
5. Transport
Aadhar card is now necessary for all road transport authority transactions in Andhra Pradesh such as vehicle registration certificates, learning license, permanent driving license and change of ownership of the vehicle since July 2015. This is likely to spread across other states as well.
Telangana has also linked Aadhaar card with every transaction in the transport department to curb increasing malpractices in the registration of vehicles, issuance of driving licenses and irregularities committed by vehicle owners.
6. Digilocker
DigiLocker, one of the initiatives of Digital Programme, is used at minimizing the usage of physical documents enabling sharing of e-documents across agencies. After creation of the account, the citizens need to update their details from time to time to avail the additional services of Aadhar. Residents can also upload their electronic documents and digitally sign them using the e-sign facility. The digitally signed documents may be or may not be shared with other government organizations or entities.
7. Mutual Funds
Investors can use an Aadhaar-based e-KYC (know-your-customer) for investment in mutual funds. The investor is just required to add their Aadhaar number and registered mobile number with the one-time password (OTP) for Aadhaar authentication. Soon, he or she is required to upload a self-attested copy of e-Aadhaar. Upon verification with UIDAI database, the investor is e-KYC verified and can easily carry out any transactions in mutual funds.
The card has not only linked to this but also to financial institutions for getting and releasing loans.
8 Scholarships
Now, if any student requires scholarship or fellowship, they should have Aadhar card. It has been made mandatory for all college students to have Aadhaar cards. This is both for state governments or University Grant Commission(UGC) where there is requirenment of Aadhar card issued by the UIDAI.
9. Pension Schemes
Aadhar enables a subscriber to open an account with the National Pension System while sitting at home. All it needs is an internet connection and an Aadhaar or Permanent Account Number (PAN) card. This facility is now available for non-resident Indians (NRIs) as well.
The Central government has already made Aadhaar card compulsory for all Central government pensioners thus encouraging them to seed their bank accounts with Aadhaar card numbers.
While the Government hasn’t made Aadhar a mandatory document as yet, the trend of positive acceptance of Aadhar by various government and non-government organisations has made Aadhar a crucial document to have.
