With the flick of a pen, the Antigonish County warden says the municipality wrapped up a time-consuming, and sometimes complicated, community issue.    The county has supported the motion to transfer the ownership of the Antigonish Exhibition Grounds to the Antigonish Guysborough Federation of Agriculture.  The signing agreement took place last night in the council chambers.  Russell Boucher says it’s an historical moment and officially ends a decade of legal wrangling.

The property was a hot-button issue for both the town and the county– with the latter being forced to pay a 370-thousand dollar tax bill– or it would go up for sale.   The town and county have also supported the motion to lease the Antigonish Arena for a 10 year term to the federation for the purpose of holding the annual week long Eastern Nova Scotia Exhibition
