A Marshall County teenager has been found dead after he was reporting missing on Thursday, Sept. 15.
16-year-old Rylan Clark’s body was located by a Plymouth School Corporation Resource Officer, in a wooded area east of Plymouth, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC-57.
Clark was a sophomore at Plymouth High School.
The case remains under investigation, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
The Plymouth Community School Corporation released the following statement over the weekend:
“It is with great sadness that the Plymouth Community School Corporation announces that Rylan Clark, a 16-year-old Plymouth High School (PHS) sophomore, died yesterday, September 16, 2016. Rylan attended Plymouth Community School Corporation since elementary school and grew into a well-respected member of the PHS Cross Country team.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with Rylan’s family and friends.
“As of last evening, many of our students and staff were aware of Rylan’s passing. As we prepare for school Monday morning, our Plymouth High School principal James Condon, sent a voice message via our SchoolReach communication system, to all our PHS parents and students who may not have been aware of this tragedy.
“On Monday morning, all of our schools will operate on the normal late start Monday bell schedule.
“On Monday and in coming days, our trained crisis response team will be able to meet with students individually or in groups.
“We ask our parents to please contact Plymouth High School via phone (574) 936-2178 if they feel their child is in need of additional assistance. We have a list of school and community health resources that are available upon request.
“Information about Rylan’s funeral services will be made available as soon as we receive the information.
“Superintendent Daniel Tyree said, ‘Dealing with an untimely death of a student is difficult for everyone in our entire school community. We all want our students to graduate and enjoy all of the good things that are to come after high school. We ask ourselves why, but there isn’t an answer that makes sense. So we do our best to show other young men and women how great life is so something like this does not happen again.'”
“The Marshall County Sheriff Department continues to investigate the case involving Rylan’s death. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Marshall County Sheriff Department at (574) 936-3187.
“In closing, we ask that the community send thoughts of strength to the Clark family as we prepare for some difficult days ahead.”
