Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School have won the 2013 Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund Award.

The two designers took home the prestigious prize at the ceremony last night for their New York-based menswear brand.

Public School was one of ten finalists who were nominated for the honor, which recognizes up-and-coming talent. Each nominee presented pieces from their collections during an event last month in Los Angeles.

The award includes a cash prize of $300,000 and business mentoring from an established team of fashion professionals. Runner-ups Marc Alary of Marc Alary Jewelry and Juan Carlos Obando each received $100,000 for their contributions to fashion.

Dao-Yi and Maxwell shared how grateful they are in a statement.

“We are truly honored and humbled by the support and recognition from Vogue and the CFDA,” he said.

“To be included in the same company as this talented group of designers is an honor itself,” Maxwell added.

Their classic streetwear clothes include baseball and biker jackets and flannel shirts.

Tom Ford was the keynote speaker at the dinner gala, which marked the Fashion Fund’s tenth anniversary.

The other finalists at the ceremony were Nonoo’s Misha Nonoo, Tim Coppens, Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard of Veronica Beard, Parabellum’s Commodore Jason Jones, Tome’s Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin, Shimon and Ariel Ovadia of Ovadia & Sons, and Todd Snyder.

The fashion fund was established in 2004 and has given out $3.8 million worth of grants to 30 designers and brands throughout the years.

Previous winners include high-end designers such as Joseph Altuzarra, Alexander Wang, and Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler.
