2016: What. A. Year.

We can aptly apply that sentiment to the past 12 months on 92.3 AMP. We published a ton of stories this year: covering breaking news stories, viral trends and juicy gossip, great interviews and performances, and our own brand of engaging content. We thought it would be nice to revisit the various stories you clicked on the most over the past year.

Even in the digital age, some songs still require time to grow organically. Such is the case with Mike Posner‘s smash, “I Took a Pill in Ibiza.” Posner wrote the track back in 2014 as an acoustic song but he didn’t release it until a year later. Then, in 2015, SeeB (a Norwegian duo specializing in remixes) reworked the track. Almost immediately it caught fire throughout Europe.

Nine albums, a GRAMMY® award, and honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2011 VMAs, it’s easy to say that Britney Spears is an icon. We sat down with her right after she retook the MTV VMAs stage this past Sunday at Madison Square Garden to get the low down on her new album Glory and her take on this year’s show.

Glory is Britney’s ninth album and she had a lot of help and inspiration in creating it from her son, Preston. She explained that Preston would tell her if he liked a song or if he didn’t like it and wasn’t shy about it. He even named the album, which shows how much Britney appreciates her kids input: “He’s young and he knows. As I teach them, they teach me as well.”

People Cry Racism and #BoycottBeyonce Following ‘Formation’ Video Release, Super Bowl 50 Halftime Performance

Super Bowl 50, the game itself, was quite uneventful. An aged Peyton Manning, who spent part of this season on the bench for lack of production, rode his way to another championship thanks to a smothering Denver Broncos defense that kept NFL MVP Cam Newton and the rest of Carolina’s high-powered offense in check.

While the game was without much controversy, the halftime show was littered with it. Well, in the minds of some, anyway. But what kind of trouble could Coldplay — literally the safest, least offensive band in the world — and former Super Bowl halftime performers Beyoncé and Bruno Mars do? Well, the focus was all on Beyoncé and it began Saturday afternoon.
