The geographic diversity of campers and staff at 6 Points Sports Academy is just one aspect that makes our camp community unique. Each summer we represent more than 32 states as well as Israel, Canada, and often a few additional countries. With that diversity comes fervent devotion towards our various college and professional sports teams and days like Florida Gator Friday, Miami Heat Monday, and Georgia Bulldogs Sunday when we dress in our team’s gear. Nonetheless, our common denominator always remains: our passion for being Jewish athletes.
This Sunday, millions of people will gather around their TVs to watch the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons square off in Super Bowl LI. While many people within our 6 Points community may be rooting for opposing teams on Sunday, there is something we can all rally behind: both teams have a special connection to Judaism. Bob Kraft, owner of the Patriots, and Arthur Blank, owner of the Falcons, are Jewish. Over the past decades, Bob Kraft has played a fundamental role in developing athletics, most notably American Football, in Israel. Arthur Blank is also a prominent philanthropist who has pledged to give half of his wealth to charitable causes. On the field, and not as widely known, is Nate Ebner. Ebner grew up playing rugby competitively and later walked on to the Ohio State University football team during his Junior year. In 2012, he was drafted by the Patriots and currently plays as a defensive back. He most recently lived out one of his dreams by representing the United States Rugby National team in Rio at the Summer Olympics.
As Jewish athletes, we connect on so many levels—from the players on the field to the press box to the sky box—our passion for sports shines through. And what binds us together is the commitment to our values: sportsmanship, leadership, growth, pride, and intention.
