First Friday Bronx Trolley Seaside Tour

Visitors from all over are heading up to The Bronx on the first Friday night of every month. Tour a mansion, a beautiful, early 19th-century botanical illustrations from the Royal Horticultural Society, music for flute and harp, and light refreshments. Stroll through the gardens before hopping back on the Trolley to enjoy a meal at one of City Island’s many restaurants, visit shops, art openings and entertainment. Where? In the 1970s, New York gave birth to a sound that would change the face of Latin music forever. At the renowned Cheetah Nightclub, an ensemble of artists got together for what became a magical evening of music. The show was billed as “Our Latin Thing.”/Born in Caracas, DJ Afro (aka José Luis Pardo) is a Brooklyn based Guitarist, DJ, composer and producer renowned as a founder of the Latin American band Los Amigos Invisibles.

CITY PARKS FOUNDATION SUMMER STAGE Ismael Miranda aka “El niño bonito de la Salsa” (The pretty boy of Salsa) always wanted to be a musician, and by age 11 had already formed two groups: “The 4J’s and Little Junior” and “The Class Mates.” He was a part of the Fania All Stars and toured with the band to Europe, Asia and Latin America. In 1973, he formed his own band called “Orquesta Revelación” and recorded “Así se compone un son” under the Fania record label.
