My military base sent me a full list of Veterans Day freebies and deals for November 11th, 2015, and I wanted to make sure that you had a proper list. Also, I wanted to list a few of my favorite charities and organizations that support the military community, in case you’d like to show your support by providing a donation. Wounded Warrior Project

The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history. They also aim to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, while helping injured service members aid and assist each other.

Semper Fi Fund

The Semper Fi Fund provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post-9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America

Founded by an Iraq veteran, IAVA provides valuable resources and empowers veterans to connect with one another, fostering a strong and lasting community. Through education, advocacy and community building, they strive to create a country which honors and supports veterans of all generations.

Free meal, Nov. 11, 2015: Last year, Applebee’s served over one million free meals to military veterans and active servicemembers. Free Park Admissions for Veterans Day 2015

Anheuser-Busch Parks

Anheuser-Busch Parks offers Active Duty Service Members free admission for them and up to 3 dependents to any of their parks once a year. Throughout 2015, members of the military and as many as three direct dependents may enter SeaWorld, Busch Gardens or Sesame Place parks with a single-day complimentary admission. The Here’s to the Heroes program is only available to Any active duty, activated or drilling reservist, or National Guardsman. Eligible parks include: Adventure Island, Busch Gardens (Tampa Bay or Williamsburg), SeaWorld (Orlando, San Diego, or San Antonio), Sesame Place, and Water Country USA. Not valid at Discovery Cove and Aquatica. Christmas Town at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. is not included as part of this program.

Colonial Williamsburg

Military families are invited to enjoy FREE* Colonial Williamsburg admission, Friday, November 6–Wednesday, November 11, 2015 during our Honoring Service to America weekend. Celebrate with special events all weekend, culminating in a march and ceremony honoring America’s veterans at 4 p.m. on Veterans Day.

Fee Free Day at National Parks

To honor America’s service men and women, the Secretary of the Interior has announced that areas managed by the National Park Service would not charge entrance fees for Veterans Day, November 11, 2015. Everyone is eligible, not just veterans. Over 100 national Parks will be participating in this event.

Historic Jamestowne

Free Admission. The National Park Service commemorates Veterans Day with Fee Free days at Historic Jamestowne November 11, 2015. Free admission for everyone.

Knotts Berry Farm Military Tribute Days

Free Admission – 2015. Knott’s Berry Farm has an annual Military Tribute event in which they offer military members past and present by offering free park admission. This year the Military Tribute Days run from November 1, 2015 – December 20, 2015. Veterans or current serving military personnel plus one guest get in FREE with proper ID presented at Knott’s turnstile (DD214, Veterans Administration Hospital ID or Active Military Service ID). Purchase up to six additional tickets for only $25 each from November 1, 2015 through November 20, 2015 and for $30 each November 21 through December 20, 2015.

Patriots Point Museum

Free admission to the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant, S.C. for all veterans and their accompanying families.

Pro Football Hall of Fame

Free Admission, Nov. 7. 2015. Annual Veterans Day Salute, Saturday, November 09, 2015, 09:00 AM – 05:00 PM. Any veteran or member of the armed forces and their spouse or a guest will be admitted free of charge to the Hall of Fame for a day-long recognition of US Military veterans. FREE commemorative, patriot Hall of Fame pin for all attendees.

San Jacinto Monument and Museum (La Porte, TX)

No charge for the military and their families all week. Free admission to the theatre, Observation Floor, and the special exhibit to all veterans and their families.

VetTix

Free Event Tickets for Military and Veterans. VetTix is an excellent organization that offers free tickets to current and former military members to concerts, shows, sporting events and more.

Bed and Breakfast for Vets

In the sixth year of the program, B&Bs for Vets has organized over 300 (and counting) participating Bed and Breakfasts and Inns across the US and Canada which will be offering veterans a free night’s stay on November 10th and Nov. 11th. This offer is available to both active duty military members and veterans with ID, but space is limited. Each Inn and B&B has at least one room available for this promotion and reservations must be made directly through the participating Inns and B&Bs. For more information visit B&Bs for Vets.

Other Freebies

The Birmingham Zoo will offer free admission Nov. 9-11 for all active and retired military, veterans and their dependents. Proof of military service required.

Fort Rucker will offer Camping Under the Stars Nov. 13. There will be camping out, s’mores and hot chocolate, games, story readings and movies The event will start at 5 p.m. and is free to military ID holders. The event will be held near the West Beach Gazebo at Lake Tholocco. Families are welcome to camp overnight or just stay for the evening.

The Montgomery Zoo will host Veterans Appreciation Week Nov. 8-14. All veterans, active duty personnel and their dependent family members will receive a 50 percent discount on regular admission to the zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum.

Free admission to all visitors at more than 100 National Parks on Nov. 10-12.

Great Clips Salon will host its third annual “Thank a Veteran Free Haircut Card” event Nov. 11. Customers who visit Great Clips on Nov. 11 will receive a free haircut card to give to a veteran. The free haircut cards are redeemable by all current and past members of the military including active, inactive, retired, disabled and reserve members from any branch.  The free haircut cards are redeemable until Dec. 31. In addition, veterans can come into any U.S. Great Clips salon on Nov.11 and receive a free haircut that day or receive a free haircut card to be used before the end of the year.

The Army Corps of Engineer Recreation Areas

Army Corp of Engineers Recreation Areas The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (see a map of Alabama locations here) is waiving all day use fees at more than 2,400 recreation areas nationwide. This waiver is available to all veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families Nov. 11.

Rack Room Shoes is offering military personnel and their dependents 10 percent off their entire purchase on Nov. 11.

Like Home Depot, Lowes offers this discount daily to active duty military members, but not to veterans. However, they extend the offer to military veterans on military holidays.
