Haunted Harbour:  a spooky start to Halloween
Discovery Harbour
October 24-26, 2013 (evenings 6-9 pm)
Admission:  $7.00 per person with a non-perishable food item for the local food bank. Children ages 5 and under are free.Discovery Harbour hosts its fourth annual “Haunted Harbour” event evenings promising a fun and spooky evening for the entire family.   Little ghosts, goblins and their families arrive at Discovery Harbour’s main entrance in full costume. Proceed along a candlelit path through the famous historic properties, with costumed staff on hand to assist. During the stroll peer into various heritage buildings to see what lurks! By popular demand, the “Haunted House” feature will return allowing all those willing to meander through a maze-like walkway inside the building for a higher level of “scary”. Beware what lurks in the shadows!  A special “hands-on” ghostly Halloween craft activity is available in the North Visitor Centre.  Check out the “Creepy Canada” episode that features ghost stories from Discovery Harbour.

BARRIE

Princess Anne - The Princess Royal - will be visiting the City of Barrie on October 22, 2013. She is the Colonel-in-Chief of the Gray and Simcoe Foresters infantry regiment of the Canadian Forces Reserve.  The Princess Royal will be formally welcomed at the Southshore Centre with a royal salute played by the Pipes and Drums of The Grey and Simcoe Foresters, followed by an inspection by a Guard of Honour ceremony and an inspection of her regiment.   After the inspection, Princess Anne will take part in a dedication of the proposed Military Heritage Park. The proposed park will be located east of the Southshore Centre.  Members of the public will be able to watch Princess Anne's arrival at the Southshore Centre. There will be an area along Lakeshore Drive for public viewing.

Halloween Haunted Weekend in Algonquin Provincial Park
The fun begins Friday night with an Owl Prowl at Mew Lake Campground.
On Saturday, at the Visitor Centre, a Park Naturalist will guide you through a collection of animal skeletons.
Mew Lake Campground will feature pumpkin carving, spookiest campsite and best costume contests.  Everyone is invited to participate in weiner and marshmallow roasting, trick-or-treating, and later on, a Wolf Howl at the Old Airfield.
