Saving money is a hot topic for everyone, but especially for those of us on a special diet. If your family is like mine, you navigate numerous “can’t have” ingredients and buy some pretty expensive specialty items along with the standard pantry staples and whole foods you use to make meals.

For example, I have celiac disease and we have been living as a 100% gluten-free household for eight years. In addition, I am allergic to soy, peanuts and tree nuts; Ma Petite is allergic to soy (just diagnosed last year). On top of that, I am dairy-free. That is enough to keep anyone on their toes when it comes to creating nutritious and affordable meals!

Here’s a True Confession

Living in Atlanta, I don’t have issue with accessing the products I need, but I do have issue with shopping. I really don’t love to shop in stores (yes, I still do it, but as little as possible, really), so many of my purchases – even food purchases – are made online.

I’ve been using Amazon Prime for shopping for several years due to the volume of online purchasing we do. I’m always looking for ways to save money, and that shipping savings is great.

I decided to take my savings a step further when preparing to move back to the US from France in October and gave Amazon Prime Pantry a try. That would help me have the majority of the dry goods we use here waiting for us when we arrived home. I was also looking at the savings on quite a large purchase.

I Found a Way to SAVE BIG on Gluten-Free, Allergen-Free Foods!

While I did save some money, since being back in the States a full month now, I’ve found an even better way to save money on the products my family uses (both food and non-food), as well as all my pantry staples necessary for creating new goodies for the site! I have to share this with you!

Have you heard of Thrive Market?

If you’ve heard of Thrive and just haven’t gotten on board with all the savings yet, you might want to click HERE to jump over there now to get started. (You may want to scroll down this post a bit to read about a VERY special money saving offer just for Gluten Free Gigi readers!)

If not, you’ve got to get in on this!! I’m super-excited about how much money I can save ordering through Thrive (and not leave the house!) and I had to tell you. It really puts previous online ordering experiences to shame.

For example, today, I needed a few special items for the holidays and also I found a super deal on something I’ve been yearning to try but didn’t want to pay the high price for. Here’s a peek at some items that ended up in my Thrive Market shopping cart today.

Here’s a Peek at What I Bought from Thrive Today

Nutiva Organic Vegan Superfood Shortening (really, the secret to some of my holiday cookie recipes!)

Midel Gluten-free Crumb Crusts (in Graham Cracker and Chocolate – we have some fun pies that we make every year and these read made crusts are perfect for them!)

Raw Coconut Vinegar (because I’ve been wanting to try it; I’ll keep you posted on its properties and how I’m using it in future posts)

Epic Currant Mint Lamb bars (THIS is that product I wanted to try, but was leery about because I’m just not sure about a meat bar and I didn’t want to pay the high price just to try them, BUT I’m going to think of them as a “jerky” type snack and the price on Thrive was OMG so low!!! I actually bought a huge box they were so affordable! I’ll let you know how I like these. Just FYI, they are really clean as far as ingredients and they are paleo, too, if you follow that path.)

Taza Peppermint Stick Chocolate (I have some special uses for this one; more to come!)

TruJoy Organic Candy Canes (Because it’s Christmas and we must have our candy canes. I love TruJoy brand and know these are as clean as candy can get.)

So, there’s a glimpse at some of my online purchases in today’s Thrive order. You can start shopping and saving here (enjoying 2 months free membership + 15% off your order; scroll down for more on this)!

Here’s What I Saved

My total savings was $32.99 from what I would normally pay elsewhere on all the items I purchased. I chose to donate a portion of my savings to help feed families in need, which you can do if you like (no pressure from Thrive to do this, it is an option available at checkout, and for every donation made, Tony Robbins matches it, which is VERY cool!).

OH, the shipping? FREE when you spend over $49. How’s that for awesome?!
