HOUSTON, TX – Rain or shine, the Houston area is buzzing with activities this weekend!

Pearland Crawfish Festival

The annual event that promises “Great Bugs! Great Spice! Great Price!” opens its gates at 11 a.m. on Friday. In fact, admission is free until 3 p.m. Friday. The festival, which features music, carnival rides and – of course – lots of crawfish, runs through Sunday. It had a new location this year: the Pearland Rec Center.

Legendary Art Car Ball

It bills itself as one of the wildest parties in Houston and the Legendary Art Car Ball never disappoints. Tickets are still available for the event, which starts at 6 p.m. Friday at the Allen Center. You know this one will be colorful and it will include performances by T Bird & the Breaks, Moji and more.

Houston Art Car Parade

The 28th annual Houston Art Car Parade will get rolling Saturday. Festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with the parade starting at 2 p.m. Organizers say about 300 cars, bikes, skaters and motorized creatures will roll down Allen Parkway from Waugh to Bagby. It usually lasts about two hours and is free to the public.

Celebrate Earth Day at Discovery Green

Saturday is your chance to celebrate the environment; it’s Earth Day at Discovery Green. The event will include green exhibitors, water stations, a recycling zone, food vendors and live music. This is H-Town’s largest environmental celebration. If you ride your bike to the event, you can park it for free with Bike Houston’s Bike Valet.

The Urban Slide

The largest slip ‘n’ slide in the United States is coming to Houston this weekend. The Urban Slide is 1,000 feet of slippery vinyl that will be set up downtown on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets start at $20 a ride.

Houston Dash Season Opener

The Houston Dash will kick off their second-ever season Friday night. The women’s soccer team will host the Washington Spirit at BBVA Compass Stadium. The team only has 10 players returning from last year’s roster, but the Spirit have gone through a roster shakeup too. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
