Have you ever asked yourself what you want to do before you die? A community-oriented public art project titled “Before I Die” invites people to reflect on their lives and share their personal aspirations in a public space.
The original chalkboard wall was created on an abandoned New Orleans house by artist Candy Chang. Since then it’s gone global. More than 100 walls have been created in over 10 languages and in over 30 countries, including Kazakhstan, Argentina, Korea, Italy, Australia, Germany, and South Africa.
Some of the responses include…
“Before I die I want to kiss her at that moment.”
“Before I die I want to be loved.”
“Before I die I want to save somebodies life.”
“Before I die I want to be completely myself.”
This got me thinking, what do I want to do Before I Die? Here’s what I would write on a chalkboard, “Before I Die I want to Know That I’ve Lived My Life without Any Regrets.”
I know we don’t like to think about death. It’s scary and overwhelming. But, I think especially now with all that’s going on in the world, it’s important to reflect on our lives and the legacy we want to leave behind. So I ask each and everyone one of you…what do you want to do Before You Die?
And that’s today’s helping of The Online Dish with Maggie.
