New York, NY – On the eve of NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, Cash Money Records will host a “Food Packing Party” Thursday February 16, 2017 at New Home Full Gospel Ministries 4:00pm-7:00pm.
501©(3) charity The Johnny and Gladys Williams Foundation—created by Cash Money Records Co-Founders and brothers Ronald “Slim” Williams and Bryan “Birdman” Williams—have partnered with prestigious New York financial, banking, securities, and investment leader since 1869, Goldman Sachs, to host this event and give back to the community and surrounding areas.
Approximately 200 volunteers from St. Augustine High School, Good Will of New Orleans, Cohen College Preparatory High School, New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, Urban League of Louisiana, Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, and the New Orleans School Board will join Slim, Birdman, roster artists, and surprise celebrity guests to pack a bounty of food provided by The Pack Shack. The Food Packed will be enough to feed 50,000 less fortunate families and those affected by the recent tornado throughout New Orleans East, and will be distributed by local food banks.
“It’s our 20-year anniversary as a major label distributed through Republic Records/UMG and we wanted to celebrate this milestone by giving back as much as we can during 2017. We’ve done the Turkey Giveaway for the past 20 years, but we felt like we could do more. All-Star Weekend provided a wonderful opportunity to invite some friends down and do some good. We’re very thankful to Goldman Sachs for joining us,” says Slim.
Before the ‘Packing Party’, Slim and Birdman will guest speak at Cohen College Preparatory High School. During this time, the two icons will share inspirational stories about their journey from the heart of the city to the top of the entertainment business for an audience of 450-plus students.
Birdman states, “All the glory goes to God. We’ve been blessed to be in this game 20 years. We want to empower and uplift the next generation and the generations to follow. This event is just the beginning.”
As Birdman gears up for a busy All-Star Weekend, he also reveals details for the anxiously awaited new offering from his platinum-certified Rich Gang—Rich Gang II: Lifestyles album, arriving in stores and at all digital retailers on Friday April 14, 2017. The record’s track-listing consists entirely of brand new music by multi-platinum hip-hop stars Young Thug and Birdman.
The “#1 Most Added Track at Urban Radio this week,” new single “Bit Bak” paves the way for the forthcoming Rich Gang album. Produced by 808 Mafia [Future, Lil Wayne], the track’s spacious production and keys give way to Thug’s inimitable and otherworldly flow contrasted with Birdman’s timeless bravado. Birdman will also personally host three All-Star Weekend events at the House of Blues in New Orleans, LA. The first takes place Thursday February 17 with a very special performance by Big Tymers (Birdman & Mannie Fresh). Friday February is the Cash Money 20th Anniversary Celebration. Finally, the weekend closes out with Birdman’s star-studded Birthday on Sunday February 19.
May 12, 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of Cash Money Records signing its historic Universal deal. That same day, Cash Money Films releases its very first movie, Before Anything via Apple Music. The film provides a rare glimpse at the life of one of music’s most successful and driven legends: Birdman. Concurrently, the Before Anything Official Soundtrack becomes available on May 12 as well.
