Dread D Remix - YouTubeKowton Remix - YouTube Watch the “Sort it Out Sharon” video

Having just released the official video for new single ‘Sort It Out Sharon’ featuring grime godfather Wiley, UK production duo Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman aka Dusky drop two carefully curated remixes from T. Williams’ cult grime alias Dread D alias and Livity Sound mainstay Kowton, released today via 17 Steps/Polydor Records. Their release is also complimented with Dusky’s club instrumental of the track.

A legendary figure for his formative work on Jon E Cash’s Black Ops label around 2002 - 2006, Dread D has been bubbling back into focus over recent years through a string of strong releases on Local Action. On his remix, the versatile veteran gives Wiley’s freestyle a bashy, classic London grime refix.

Speaking about his remix, Dread D explained: “I’ve been a fan! of Dusky’s music since day one and we’ve been friends for years, so it’s always great to get the opportunity to remix them. There are those few MCs that most grime producers dream of working with, for me Wiley is the top spot, the guy’s a living legend and it was a lot of fun getting to work with his vocals. It’s nice to hear Dusky pushing the boundaries with their sound and merging two genres in that way, so it was wicked getting to take that vocal and bring it to a real London grime flavour.”

Having released his critically acclaimed 'Utility’ LP on Livity Sound earlier this year, Bristol’s Kowton has been bringing together cutting-edge electronics and heavy club dynamics with a distinctly UK sensibility - and felt a perfect choice for the second remix.

Kowton commented, “I had to pinch myself at the idea of getting to work with an original Wiley vocal, he’s but been such a pivotal figure in UK music! and a massive influence on my productions. With the remix I tried to keep it fun: I’ve always loved the aspect of grime that it doesn’t take itself too seriously - Dusky’s original was perfect to break up and par down to its core elements without losing that feel.”

A bold hybrid of warehouse techno, raw grime freestyle from Wiley and classic rave influences,  'Sort It Out Sharon’ has seen tastemaker love and huge support across BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra with spins from Mistajam, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, B Traits, Huw Stephens, Monki and Phil Taggart and a recent addition to the 1Xtra C-List, not to mention 6 Music plays from Mary Anne Hobbs and Tom Ravenscroft plus a raft of online love.

The single has also found a wider audience having been used to soundtrack the Adidas First Never Follows campaign, which teased the recent world record transfer of Paul Pogba to Manchester United two weeks before it was officially confirmed. Edited by director Rollo Jackson (Tape Crackers/Slimzee’s Going On Terrible), you can watch the video HERE.

Featuring collaborations with Gary Numan, Solomon Grey, Pedestrian and Wiley, Dusky’s forthcoming LP Outer represents the latest step in a journey that has seen Dusky appeal to electronic music fans of many ages and tribes. Favourites of Radio 1’s dance music curators Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Danny Howard, Dusky remain regulars on both Resident Advisor DJ polls and Rinse FM tracklists alike.

As DJs they have played everywhere from Berlin’s Panorama Bar and Ibiza’s DC10 to the biggest dance festival stages in America, whilst their new live show upholds a tradition established by many great British dance duos.
