Originating in 2004, Cancer Bats have come to destroy. Fueled by a burning desire to rage harder, play louder and have more fun than any other band, Cancer Bats mix hardcore, southern metal and punk rock into a lethal rock and roll explosion. The beloved multiple-JUNO nominated hardcore-punk-metal band will release their fifth studio album, “Searching For Zero” on March 10, 2015. The new album features 10 tracks produced by legendary multi-platinum producer Ross Robinson (At The Drive-In, Slipknot, The Cure, Sepultura, glass jaw) andissimultaneously the most melodic, yet menacing Cancer Bats release. The record incorporates the crude hardcore punk of their 2006 debut, Birthing The Giant and more metal leanings of 2008’s Hail Destroyer, while pushing the heavy hybrid sounds of 2010’s Mayors Bears Scraps and Bones and 2012’s darker Dead Set On Living to a new plateau. The choruses are hookier, the screams more savage, the riffs more vicious, the songs more powerful. This is Cancer Bats at their pinnacle - their “True Zero.”

Rock and roll isn’t a sound. It’s not an attitude. It’s a need, it’s a fight, it’s the saving grace in the wake of a broken heart or something lost. Culminating a breakout year of playing alongside established artists such as Reignwolf, The Silent Comedy, The Stone Foxes and Spindrift, Down and Outlaws recorded their debut LP, Above Snakes, in December 2014. Above Snakes is slated for release in 2015. If you ask what Down and Outlaws sound like, some may mention The Stooges or Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. But at some level, such comparisons miss the point. Call these San Franciscans dirty, bluesy, rootsy; it doesn’t really matter. Down and Outlaws are a rock band, pure and simple. These days, when the definition of rock and roll is increasingly uncertain, the quartet’s energy, authenticity, and blistering live performances are impossible to ignore or forget.

"It’s okay to be who you are, dance hard even when everyone is looking at you, and fuck the haters," exclaimed Holiday Mountain’s 23 year old front woman Laura Patino to a packed club during SXSW 2014. Those words perfectly encompass the energy that radiates from the Austin, TX based psych-dub trio. With influences ranging from Billie Holiday and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs to M.I.A. and Major Lazer, Holiday Mountain is a vibrant celebration of individuality, movement, sweat, glitter, and community. Patino formed the group in 2011 while attending Berklee College of Music in Boston with fellow alumnus bassist/synth player Bradley Will and drummer Zander Kagle. Brought together by a common desire to push musical boundaries, they skillfully mix unconventional melodies with danceable grooves and beats that are only enhanced by Patino’s wild yet ethereal vocals. After a string of buzzworthy performances at CMJ Music Marathon (2014) and a trippy, hallucination-inducing music video for song "Motion Sickness" (premiered via The Wall Street Journal), Holiday Mountain is set to release their forthcoming album,"You Be You," produced by the Grammy-nominated CJ Eiriksson, this Spring.

Survival Guide is an artistic endeavor featuring California vocalist and keyboardist Emily Whitehurst. After supporting Joan Jett, performing at First City Festival 2014 (Beck, The National, Phantogram) and recording a freshman full-length album, Survival Guide was named one of the Top 12 Bay Area Bands of 2014 by San Francisco’s premier rock radio station, Live 105. The upcoming album, entitled “Way to Go”, conjures feelings of a dark modern fairytale and showcases Whitehurst’s vocal range and talent, following two previously released 7” vinyl singles, “Hot Lather Machine” and “Wildcat”, released on San Francisco’s Side With Us Records.

"Like Peter Gabriel in a Garage" -that’s how Fictionist describes its fourth album, a self-titled surprise romp through the band’s most formative influences (released October 2014). Feeling liberated at the end of a contract with Atlantic Records, the Provo, UT band disappeared into area studios with producer Nate Pyfer, a 2014 Grammy nominee, for an eight-week sonic bender. The result combines Fictionist’s heralded art-rock sensibilities with Cat Stevens songwriting, Phoenix-style glitchy analog electronics, and CHVRCHES electro-pop architecture.Fictionist has toured nationally and shared the stage with Imagine Dragons, Vampire Weekend, Neon Trees, Young The Giant, Robert Francis, Mates of State and Shiny Toy Guns. Most recently, the band was selected by New Music Seminar as one of their Artists on the Verge: Class of 2015 - handpicked by an A&R committee comprised of NMS partners, talent scouts, buyers, booking agents, tastemakers and other industry experts.

NYC-based Great Caesar aims for the heart with an always surprising and moving blend of horns, male and female vocals. This musically impressive band of seven draws from acts like Arcade Fire and Dirty Projectors. Great Caesar creates music that confronts what matters: love, legacy, and the complexity of human relationships. Their debut video Don’t Ask Me Why, funded by a $50,000 Kickstarter campaign, has gained more than 270,000 views since exclusively premiering on Upworthy. In 2014, Great Caesar performed at TEDxHollywood, sold out shows on both coasts, and released a self-titled EP produced by Griffin Rodriguez (Beirut, Modest Mouse, A Hawk and a Hacksaw), all of which earned them a feature in Relix Magazine’s On The Verge. 2015 marks tremendous growth for Great Caesar. Taking the new year by storm, Great Caesar has been officially announced by Billboard as one of New Music Seminar’s Artists on the Verge 2015. These long time friends have written a set of new music that explores the sounds, ideas, and people fueling this critical moment in their lives. The band has been particularly inspired by the experiences on their most recent tour - which took them from living rooms in New Haven, CT to a prison in Marion, OH, to the offices of tech companies in LA and San Francisco. Much of the band has stuck together since high school - creating a sound that is both tight and expansive, always with powerful storytelling and catchy hooks. Samantha is a Brooklyn-based punk rock/thrash-pop trio with a penchant for loud guitars and harmony. The band relocated from Chicago about a year ago and has since shared the stage with bands like Dead Stars, White Mystery and Unlocking the Truth. Samantha’s sophomore album, Hourglass Noise, out April 21st, promises to stay true to the band’s honesty and rawness, while striving to further walk that line between the darkest frustration and white-hot elation. In regards to the new album’s sound, bassist Alex Hoffman shares, “We were going for a Kim Deal, Kurt Cobain, and R2D2 on a road trip kind of thing. Not sure we ended up there, but the record is awesome.” They have been called post-punk, they have been called thrash-pop… whatever, you call it, Samantha reminds us that rock n’ roll never forgets!

Indie folk songstress Lucette will capture your heart with her gentle voice, both beautiful and haunting. Releasing her debut album, Black Is the Color via Rock Creek Music, just over four months ago, the collection was produced and recorded by the acclaimed Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell) and has already reached over ONE MILLION total plays on Spotify. In March 2015, Lucette will make her South by Southwest debut in Austin, TX with an official showcase and multiple appearances lined up. The year will also see her continue to tour throughout the States and Canada. 2014 saw Lucette taking to the road with Joe Ely, as well as Mason Jennings, Nikki Lane, David Ramirez and Jim Lauderdale. She ended the year as direct support on Sturgill Simpson’s fall tour. It is obvious to all those who listen that Lucette is an old and heavily romantic soul. Made up of Daniel Lannon (vocals/synths), Alex Cohen (bass/synth), Rahi Kumar (guitar/synth), and Chris Chan (drums), The Frail pushes the boundaries of pop and electronic music to new heights. The band defies traditional genre classification by creating a harmonious hybrid of indie, synth pop and electro. The Frail’s velvet-throated vocalist Daniel Lannon and hyper-prolific producer started the band in 2007 over Craigslist, and recorded their first songs without ever meeting. Now with four core members, they have propelled the group from a Craigslist collaboration to an electro pop act worthy of international acclaim. The Frail are by no means strangers to the music scene, having played alongside Hot Chip, Goldfrapp, Shiny Toy Guns, Generationals, and Penguin Prison to name a few. They have also performed stage-shattering sets at festivals such as SXSW, Treasure Island, Noise Pop and BFD, and are set to play BottleRock Napa Valley in May.
