Delegates to ITS World Congress 2016 in Melbourne can route their city journeys, plus find their way around the convention center once inside. Discovering points of interest and needed amenities along the way will be easy too, with the official event app powered by HERE mapping data and advanced location services.

The official custom-built app can be downloaded from iOS and Android app stores to simplify navigation, planning and communication through the course of the four-day event. Navigation will automatically switch from outdoor to indoor positioning with precise location information for both.

For planning in and around the city, users can check real-time traffic and travel times across a variety of transportation options. The HERE location cloud platform supports mapping and navigation for more than 1,000 Australian venues, so the app provides details about car hire, public transit, restaurants, cafes, tourist attractions, shopping, ATMs, bars and more. At the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), HERE 3D venue maps with indoor routing will guide delegates to an exact plenary room or exhibitor booth.

The app supports messaging among users who can share location details and arrange meetups. It’s Integrated with social media channels for real-time updates as well — #ITSWC16. Live polling and Q&A capabilities give delegates a way to engage with presenters and influence discussions.

HERE is exhibiting

HERE will also be exhibiting at the Congress, demonstrating several solutions that enable users to effectively get around today, and ones that provide a foundation for future transport and smart cities. For example, stop by booth 1701 to see the new features of our core app HERE WeGo, such as the route comparison screen, improved bicycle routing, car-sharing service booking and search flow.

Developers can become more familiar with our SDKs for native applications and learn more about the data powering all of our solutions like HERE Traffic Analytics and Real-Time Traffic. This information can also be applied to traffic management, and we will specifically show an example of how historical traffic data can be used for improvements.

Making cars more independent, HERE HD Live Map will also be on display. These highly precise and extremely accurate maps are the path to highly-automated driving. Plus, see our next generation automotive services, which pull data from different car brands. From this new utilization, our traffic offering has been enhanced and we recently launched — HERE Hazard Warnings, HERE Road Signs and HERE On-Street Parking.

Urban planners will want to take note of HERE Reality Lens. This demo will combine high-quality, panoramic street-level views and high-precision LiDAR data to help visualize, map and measure the city environment without having to send workers into the field to gather data.

Additionally, the HERE for ITS: Mobility Visualizer illustrates how increasing levels of connectivity among travelers, mobility service providers, infrastructure, road authorities and governments can affect travel costs, improve traffic congestion and reduce CO2 emissions.

HERE speaks

The Congress’ theme is delivering safer, more efficient and environmental sustainable transport solutions, and the speaking agenda drives home this message. HERE experts will be speaking and offering a wide variety of perspectives.

Plenary panel sessions will feature Monali Shah, Director of Global Intelligent Transportation, joining the discussing around the challenge of capturing, securing and connecting big data and Leon van de Pas, Senior Vice President, Head of IoT Business Group, HERE, The Netherlands talking about smart cities. Download the full program.

With more than 900 sessions, 300 exhibitions, technical tours and demonstrations, as well as a host of networking opportunities happening across the city of Melbourne, the HERE ITS app will enable delegates to maximize their Congress experience and experience first-hand real-time smart city technologies.
