Matthias Schaller Photographs Portraits of Famous Artists’ Paint Palettes
German artist Matthias Schaller has dedicated his career to creating a unique collection of conceptual portraits of classical artists. Since 2007, he has committed his artwork to a series of abstract paintings, titled Das Meisterstuck (The Masterpiece) based on the identities of famous artists and their versatile painting techniques.The series of photographs is a window into the intimate world of an artist’s genius-each brushstroke, choice of color and organization revealing hidden insights of artists, including Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gosh, Picasso, Henri Matisse and many others.
