Correct lighting can change the interior décor of the house, but it is imperative to know about the different types of bulbs available so that you can decide the ones that you actually need. Here we take a quick look at the comparison between CFL and LED.

CFL is known to save as much as 75% energy costs in a year, while LED can save up to 80% energy costs a year. Also led can last for more than 20 years, while the life of a CFL bulb is up to 9 years. As far as fittings are concerned, CFL and LED are both available in medium bases. These two bulbs are the two most energy efficient light bulb options available. Also both of these bulbs can be used for in-house as well as outdoor options. The only limitation with the use of CFL bulb is that, as it does not have resistance to power surges, it is best to avoid its use in workshops.

Other lighting options include incandescent bulbs which can last for one year on an average and are best advised to be used with dimmer switch. Then there are fluorescent bulbs available, which traditionally come in tubular shape but now are available in circular as well as U shape. The limitation with this lighting is that these require a ballast to function. Another lighting option includes halogen bulbs which also have short life of 1 year, but they consume less energy as compared to incandescent bulbs.
