Bull Dog has challenged the rationale and logic behind the advice from Mark Okraku Mantey, Chief Executive of Slip Music.
Mark advice was that, the only way Shatta could last in the music industry was for him to focus on sustaining his career rather than making hit songs which fade away in no time.
This advice to the newly crowned Artiste of the Year,Shatta Wale, from the Music producer Mark Okraku Mantey’s has not gone down well with
Bull Dog, Shatta’s manager.According to Bull Dog ,Okraku Mantey was in no position to tell which artiste would last and which one would not.
“Mark is not God. He cannot tell what song will make it and what will not make it. With his experience I’m hoping that he will learn something about Shatta Wale and not condemn him,” Bull Dog stated.
According to Bull, the Artiste of the Year winner at the just-ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) is one of the very few musicians in Ghana who give commentary about their life experiences in their songs.
“I don’t agree with Okraku Mantey if he says Shatta’s songs will not last. Look at his songs, like ‘Bandana from Ghana’; they are still being played and enjoyed everywhere you go. Shatta Wale has a lot of songs that are timeless. Songs that he recorded about four years ago are still lingering on. There are some songs that were for six months and that is business,” he added.
Bull Dog who admitted that Okraku Mantey was one of his mentors in the field of artiste management, urged him to go beyond the Shatta Wale songs being played on radio and do a thorough research on the artiste before making such baseless arguments.
