Girl Scouts are getting in on the gluten-free food trend. A gluten-free butter cookie with bits of toffee, dubbed Toffee-tastic, is one of two new products that will be released and sold locally, starting Jan. 16. The other new cookie is called Rah-Rah Raisins, a crispy oatmeal cookie with raisins and Greek yogurt-flavored chunks. The gluten-free cookies will be $5 per box. Other cookie varieties will be $4 per box.

Two fun facts: Girl Scouts Louisiana East sold more than a million boxes of cookies in 2014. Also, Samoas (the best Girl Scout cookie) turn 40 this year. For more information, call the Baton Rouge council office at 927-8946 or visit gsle.org.
