Break out the Parachute Pants and Rubix Cubes, it’s time to go Old School. Tonight, Raw celebrates my favorite era in professional wrestling. I love this annual sow, other than it reminds me how close I’m getting to the big 5-0. Grin.
The show opened with a modified version of the old opening of WWF programming. Raw is in Baltimore…
WOOOOOOO! Yes, The Nature Boy is back! He was so “Stylin’ and Profilin’” as Flair made his way out to the ring. The two-time Hall of Famer, 16-time World Champion was ready to kick off Raw in a way only he could do. Michael Cole talked about Flair motivating the San Francisco 49ers. Go, Red and Gold.
Ric welcomed everyone to Old School Raw. He talked about all the fun that they guys have been having. He started rolling out his old catchphrase. Flair talked about all the Legends that were in the house. Flair did the Strut until the arrival of Randy Orton. Buzzkill Alert.
Flair seemed happy to see each other. Randy hugged his former mentor. Flair congratulated Orton on unifying the two belts. Randy said he had the utmost respect for Flair. He thanked Flair for all his support, over the years. Randy then changed gears and said it was all about Randy Orton. Randy pushed his idea that he was the greatest of all time. Randy said it was his time and his ring. Randy asked Flair to step out of the ring and let him vent. The fans weren’t having any part of seeing Flair leave.
Randy brought up the rematch against John Cena. Randy didn’t like that the decision was made based on what the fans like. Randy said facing Cena, again, was not what was Best for Business. Randy said he had nothing left to prove against Cena. He asked The Authority to reconsider their decision. Randy went one step to far by calling himself “The Man”.
Flair questioned whether Randy deserved to be called “The Man”. Flair talked about working 7 days a week for 35 years. Flair showed off his Hall of Fame rings. Flair chided Randy about “Crying” about the match. Flair suggested that Randy suck it up and defend without crying. Randy called Flair “The most over-rated star in history”. Randy said it was way past Flair’s time. Randy asked Flair to leave or he wouldn’t be responsible for what happened next. Flair refused to leave. Flair said Randy would listen to what he had to say. He admitted that he and HHH picked Randy because of his potential. Flair accused Randy of having an “Immature Punk Attitude” that Randy has never grown out of. Flair wondered if Randy was really a man or not. Randy threatened to go “Old School” on Flair’s *ss, right now.
John Cena rushed from the back to protect the “Nature Boy”. Bro-Hug between Cena and Flair. Cena accused Randy of “sinking to another level of scum bag”. Cena said Randy was taking out his frustration on Flair, instead of aiming his venom at him. Cena ran down Flair’s credentials. Cena told Randy “You feel froggy, jump”. Cena was ready to fight Orton. Randy, of course, bailed out and took off for the back. Cena held Flair’s arms aloft as the fans showed their love.
Flair and Cena did the Strut…together! I love it. JBL and Cole were wearing “Old School” jackets. Jerry Lawler was at home, feeling under the weather. They said it might be heart-related but the doctors did give Lawler a Thumbs Up on the evaluation. Keep “The King” in your thoughts and prayers.
Raw looked at Daniel Bryan facing the Wyatt Family, last week. At the end, Daniel finally submitted and agreed to join the Wyatt Family. Daniel Bryan will debut as the Fourth Wyatt…next.
Rey Mysterio and The Usos vs Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Daniel Bryan
Six Man Tag Team Match
The announcers were curious if Daniel would have a new look. Bray Wyatt came out and then brought out his team. Daniel has ditched the maroon colors that paid tribute to William Regal in favor of black clothing. Bray sat down in his rocking chair as the music played. The lights cam on and the trio stood ready to attack. Bray whispered something in Bryan’s ear. The Wyatts got on the apron.
Luke started against one of the Usos. Luke took a Thrust Kick but brushed it off and decked Uso. The two men traded shots. Tag to Daniel. Daniel looked like he was in a black prison outfit. Rey took the tag, on the other side. Rey tried to talk to Daniel. Daniel cracked Rey and tore into the masked man. Kitchen Sink Knee to send Rey spinning. Rey sent Daniel out to the floor. Bray screamed at Daniel to go get Mysterio. Break time.
Rowan drove his knuckles into Jey Uso’s temples as Raw returned. Jey began to punch back but Rowan with a wicked Fallaway Slam that put him in the Wyatt Corner. Daniel tagged back in and began to unload with speedy kicks. Daniel choked Jey on the ropes and then trapped him in the ropes. Daniel with a Running Dropkick to the back of Jey.
Rowan tagged back in and blasted Jey. Rowan choked Jey and nailed him with a Headbutt. Jey got a punch in and hit a nasty Thrust Kick to Rowan’s face. Tag to Rey. Rey Dropped the Dime and sent Roan flying. Rowan pushed Rey into the ropes. Rey converted a Double Choke into a 619. Rowan dodged a Splash by one of the Usos. Daniel tagged into the match but Harper then tagged himself in. Luke blasted Reyand went for a Bubba Bomb. Uso with a Roll Up and a 3 count.
Your Winners: Rey Mysterio and the Usos.
Raw Ranking: 3.0 out of a possible 5
Bray went off on Harper for costing his squad the match. Roddy Piper will be out soon, to do a Piper’s Pit with…The Shield. Yes!
Another promo ran for the return of Batista. My daughter, Jesika, is thrilled that he’s coming back. She’s usually off on Mondays and swears she’s going to come watch wrestling with “Dad”. Uh-huh. She’s just ready to watch Dave, starting in 2 weeks. It was announced that Batista is officially entered in the Royal Rumble!
Cole and JBL talked about the match between Damien Sandow and Great Khali. Sandow threatened to quit WWE if he didn’t beat his opponent. Sandow should not have won the match, as Khali’s shoulder was up. Brad Maddox said there would be a rematch between the two. The possible special refs for the match would be:
1. Bob Backlund
2. Arn Anderson
3. Sgt. Slaughter
Kane then came in to go off on Brad Maddox. Brad didn’t back down from the Big Red Machine. Kane knew he couldn’t threaten a fellow executive. Kane said he knew he would be fired if he touched him, Brad would never see the light of day. Kane said if Brad got him fired, Kane would go back to being the Monster and Brad would never be seen again. Ouch.
Big E Langston strolled backstage. He ran into Nikolai Volkoff and the Million Dollar Man. Yes! Next, he came across I.R.S.. Langston grinned as he headed towards the ring.
A huge announcement will happen on Wednesday at 9:30 PM on WWE.com. It will change the course of WWE, forever.

Ryback, who was at ringside, distracted Langston. Axel got a few shots in but Langston with a Flying Clothesline and the Big Ending.
Your Winner: Big E Langston
Raw Ranking: 2.75
Ryback admitted that Langston was impressive. Michael Cole talked with Ryback about never winning a title.
Roddy Piper is in the house! Piper’s Pit is next!
I so love Old School. I even got in the spirit by heading over to the FLIX Channel to watch a marathon of the Toxic Avenger series, over the week-end. Put me just in the right mindset. Smile.
Piper’s Pit!
Roddy looked a bit older but still seemed to have the same old fire. Piper said he was Old School before Old School was Cool. That got a loud “Roddy” chant going. He was cut off by the arrival of The Shield. Roman, Seth and Dean made their way through the crowd as Cole suggested that The Shield was fracturing, from within. The trio made their way into the ring. Dean got right in Piper’s face and wondered who gave the Old Man a live microphone. Dean said if The Shield had been around during his era, or he wouldn’t reach 100+. Piper put Dean in his place. Piper admitted to being beaten up, during his time. Piper said his body might be less than perfect but his mind was still sharp as ever. Piper threw respect out to the only man who could hang with him as it related to promos…C.M. Punk. Dean warned Piper to watch himself. Seth stepped up and explained that The Shield was too smart to fall for Piper’s mind games. Seth suggested that Dean was a better U.S. Champ than Piper ever was. Piper said Seth might be correct. Piper reminded Seth and Dean couldn’t beat Punk, one on one. Piper tweaked Roman’s cheek and asked Roman if he does beat Punk, wouldn’t that make him better than the other two? Piper stirred the pot by suggesting Dean and Seth were holding Roman back. The big Samoan rose to his feet and got right in Piper’s face. Roman said he’d break Piper’s old *sss in half if he ever touched him again. They were ready to attack Piper but C.M. Punk rushed down with the New Age Outlaws! The fight was on, big time! The Road Dogg, Jesse James and the Bad Ass, Billy Gunn (yep, I said it) cleared the ring. Piper’s music sounded off as The Shield seriously fumed.
A recap of Brock Lesnar’s return aired. Paul Heyman told Michael Cole, earlier, that Brock would be in Baltimore to go “Old School!” The video explained that Lesnar was back to become the WWE World Champion. Mark Henry came out to go up against Brock. Lesnar took the fight to Henry and took him out with one of the most impressive F-5s in history. It’s no secret that Brock is probably my least favorite wrestler, but Man that was impressive!
I’m starting to put together my predictions for Royal Rumble. An early favorite is Batista. However, I think the WWE may be pushing him just a little too hard for him to actually win it. I’ll think on it, a bit more, and come up with my predictions in the near future.
Sin Cara was in the ring. Dang, I love that purple and gold outfit. Dianna’s favorite color is purple and I just flipped the bedroom TV to Raw and she smiled at the outfit.
Sin Cara vs Alberto Del Rio
Del Rio has had major issues with the “new” Sin Cara. Cara has had several wins over the former World Champion. Del Rio was irate to see the video replay.
Del Rio tore into Sin Cara with stomps. He sent Cara into the ropes but Cara with the Crucifix Backslide and La Magistral Cradle. Del Rio came back with kicks. Cara with an Arm Drag Cradle. Del Rio put Cara in the ropes and Stomped on him. 1 count only. Rear Chin lock by Del Rio. Cara got to his feet and Sledged his way free. Del Rio threw Cara down. Back Elbow by Cara. Del Rio blocked the Tornado DDT but fell to the Backspring Elbow. 2 count.
Enziguri, form the apron, by Cara. Cara missed the Swanton. Thrust Kick by Alberto Del Rio. 1-2-3.
Your Winner: Alberto Del Rio
Raw Ranking: 2.5
After the match, Del Rio started talking about Royal Rumble. He was offended that everyone was talking about Batista, not him. Del Rio said he would personally eliminate Batista from the match. Del Rio was confident that he would win the Royal Rumble. He’s got a good shot at it. I’m waiting to see who else might be involved. I’m leaning towards a certain bearded competitor.
Michael Cole updated Jerry Lawler’s condition. It turns out that The King has a nasty stomach virus and needed the night off. His heart was checked and it didn’t seemed to be affected.
In the back, Daniel Bryan was upset. Daniel said he wanted to be turned from man to monster. Daniel wanted to learn and he wanted to also teach Harper and Rowan. Daniel waned to tag with one of the two. Bray Wyatt came in and said he wanted Bryan to tag…with him.
The Real Americans (Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter)) vs The Brotherhood (Goldust and Cody Rhodes)

Jack with a Front Face Lock on Cody. Cody tried his best to punch free but Antonio took the tag. Cody flipped Antonio to the outside. Goldy screamed for his brother. Antonio got in the ring and kicked Dust off the apron. Cody reached the corner but his brother was down. European Uppercut to the back of Cody’s head. 2 count. Whip by Antonio. Cesaro charged but Cody got out of the way. Jack tagged in and blocked the Disaster Kick. Cody spun around t try and get out of the Patriot Lock. Jack kept the pressure on. Cody inched to the ropes but Swagger pulled him to the middle of the ring. Goldust got in and kicked Swagger in the face.
Goldust got the tag and took down Jack with a kick, the Goldustin Uppercut and a Double A Spinebuster. Spinning Crossbody off the top turnbuckle by Dust. Powerslam by Dust but Antonio made the save. Low Bridge to send Antonio to the outside. Final Cut! 1-2-3!

Damien Sandow vs Great Khali
Special Guest Ref’— Sgt. Slaughter!
Khali’s brother, Ranjin Singh, was back! I was hoping for “Double A”, but what the heck. Sarge came out in an 80s ref shirt and bow tie combo. Damien ordered Sarge to stay out of the way. Damien with a punch and Khali stomped away on Sandow. Open Hand Slaps by Khali. Ouch! Damien with a Back Elbow and a series of stomps. Slaughter told Sandow to back off. Khali pushed Sandow away and hit a Back Elbow and Big Kick. Clotheslines by the Punjabi Playboy. Khali Khop but Sandow got his foot on the ropes. Slaughter either didn’t see it or ignored it.
Your Winner: Great Khali
Raw Ranking: 1.0
Damien screamed about having his foot on the ropes. Sandow tried to attack Sandow but Sarge slapped on the Cobra Clutch! Sandow dropped and headed to the back. Khali and Singh asked Sarge to dance with them. Sarge tried to back off but they would not be denied. Sarge danced around as I laughed like a kid, again.
In the back, Brock Lesnar walked with Paul Heyman. I have to admit that I do like the new t-shirt.
The Beast arrived on the scene. I’m waiting for The Beast vs The Animal, in the near future. The duo of Lesnar and Heyman were announced and they strolled down to the ring. Brock hopped up on the apron and got in the ring. Heyman had the stick and was ready to go. He introduced himself and his man to the crowd. Heyman said Brock was dismayed by the public’s reaction to the term “Old School”. Brock wasn’t happy that Legends were being trotted out for a last hurrah. Paul explained that “Old School” meant that one man reigns supreme. Heyman talked about Bruno reigning supreme and everyone wanting a piece. He also talked about Hulk Hogan’s reign as the leader. He even brought up “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Heyman said Brock wanted the one man who reigns supreme…the WWE World Champion. He didn’t care if Brock faced Randy Orton or John Cena. Paul didn’t want to under-sell his client’s abilities. Paul reminded everyone how Brock destroyed Mark Henry, a former Olympian. Paul pushed the savage beating that Mark took. It wasn’t all that brutal. A couple of moves isn’t a savage beating. Paul said anyone who would face Brock would become a loser. Heyman began to chant Brock’s mantra “Eat, Sleep, Conquer, Defeat”…
Mark Henry came from the back for another piece of Brock. Mark tore into Brock with Headbutts and knees. Brock got Mark in the Kinura Lock and appeared to break Mark’s arm. Brock ripped Mark’s shirt off as Paul tried to call off his Beast. Paul held Brock’s arm high s Brock’s military-themed music went off. Medics came out to check on Mark Henry.
As Brock started to leave, he was met by the arrival of Big Show. That was one seriously ticked off Bi Bear. Brock backed off, big time. Brock got in the ring and actually acted all big and bad by challenging Big Show. Big Show got on the apron and stared at The Beast. Brock tucked tail and ran as Show got in the ring. That pretty much kills his vicious character. Herman distracted Show but Show didn’t fall for it. Show with a Biel that sent Brock tumbling to the outside. Paul tried to be the voice of reason to keep Brock from getting back in the ring. Paul said it wasn’t the right time.
It was announced that Mark Henry’s elbow was dislocated and fractured.
The Bella Twins vs Alicia Fox and Aksana
Before this match gets started, I want to ask you all to please keep the Original Diva, Mae Young, in your thoughts and prayers. Miss Mae is undergoing Hospice Care for health issues.

Godfather’s music went off again and a few guys danced away. They were interrupted by the arrival of Wade Barrett. Jeez. I can’t stand this guy. Barrett talked about al the Legends and how it should be a momentous occasion but he had some Bad News. Barrett joked about how most of the men had to hang out at Flea Markets to sell a handful of 25 year old pictures. Barrett said the people would be forgotten in seconds after they left the building. Jeez.
Cole and JBL discussed Randy Orton vs John Cena at Royal Rumble in a “No Excuses” match. The Main Event was up next. No Hall of Fame Inductee Named? Seriously? That sucks.
