He said that the company have a leading position and will defend their focus concerning alternative propulsion systems in the premium category.
A trusted source of Daimler said that the C-Class and E-class full hybrids will be launched before 2013 in Europe and in 2014 with the S-class plug-in hybrid. And six months later United State versions will follow.
Currently Mercedes does not provide plug-in hybrid versions in the U.S. The just offered a full hybrid and a mild hybrid for Mercedes S400.
The differences between full hybrid and mild hybrid are located on electric motor. A full hybrid can be encouraged by using the electric motor for short distances. A mild hybrid, electric motors do not drive a vehicle on its own – the mild hybrid uses an electric motor as a start or stops the system.
Besides that, Kohler also said that this year Daimler will continue to invest heavily in R&D – spending more than $2.7 billion on alternative powertrain technology.
