The main reason that these titans are so bloody ancient is that the Imperium often lacks the knowledge, skill, or resources to build them anywhere but [[Forge World|Mars, Ryza, and apparently Lucius.]] The second reason they are so god-dang geriatric is when Titans get killed, they are usually so big they don't get killed ''dead''. This means that the Mechanicus can haul the thing back to the Titan's home world and fix it up again.
