In the Black Library novel Alarielle completely removes it, in the army book she only removes the threat to his life it causes and he must live with the excruciating pain which is worse than his original burns (Though the latter may be the case of an Unreliable Narrator).

Caledor the Dragontamer and Morathi are lost in the Warp as Teclis undoes the Vortex.
