The birds chirping, and the smell of grass is in the air. It feels good to say “We’ve made it to Spring!” Sure the winter season had its highlights like WMC and SXSW, but the new music season is just beginning. Whether its Jay Z and Beyonce announcing a joint tour, or it’s Lil Wayne walking Floyd Mayweather down the ring, the music is coming. This past month saw us reminisce on some classic material and groups such as, the 20th anniversary of Nas’ Illmatic and Outkast reuniting at Coachella. Both events were landmark for the time, and there is no better person to take us into the new month than one of New York City’s most well-known, and well connected DJs – “The Young Celeb,” DJ Whutevva.

A far cry from your average DJ, Whutevva has come a long way from rocking parties at Hofstra University. “The Young Lion” has been featured on MTV, VH1, BET, as well as Vibe magazine, along with coverage in a variety of national magazine and newspapers. His skills have easily made him one of the more sought after DJs. Spinning for the likes of Wyclef, to Mary J. Blige, to Good Charlotte, DJ Whutevva is well trusted in the music industry.

This month, Power 105’s main attraction DJ Whutevva delivers on the Cornerstone Mixtape. Holding down the mix he stays true to his reputation of playing the hottest and newest music hitting us with the latest and greatest. You’ll find new records from DJ Khaled, featuring Jay Z, Meek Mill and Rick Ross make the cut this month, along with exclusive freestyles from Wale, Bodega Bamz and K Camp make the cut in this month’s installment. The Music Meeting is full of records to keep your playlist fresh and current, with records from The Roots, featuring Raheem Devaughn, Schoolboy Q, and Lorde remixed by DJ Rob Dinero.

While the year continues to roll right along, we’ll continue to provide you with the tunes you love, and put you on to the new artist that you need to pay attention to. Check back in to our 1200squad site, that stays current with new music, remixes, and videos, and remember that the DJ is the Cornerstone of hip-hop. ®
