The Autism Spectrum Disorder Workshop will be taking place at the Trickle Creek Lodge meeting room at the Kimberley Alpine Resort on Feb. 6th from 9 am to noon.
This is the first time the East Kootenay Adaptive Snowsports (EKAS) has hosted this workshop and it will be presented with the help of BC Adaptive Snowsports and Canucks Autism Network.
The workshop will start with an indoor morning session with ASD Specialist, Stephanie Jull from the Canucks Autism Network.
She will spend the morning sharing resources, and tips and tricks to engage and enhance the on-snow experience for students and instructors.
The overview of the workshop will be on ASD and the training techniques that will benefit instructors out on the snow and in other recreational pursuits.
An afternoon session will follow on the snow and will cover ski teaching techniques for students with ASD.
Full day sessions include the morning presentation and afternoon on snow-training for $50, while the morning session only is $5 at the door.
Those interested have until January 31st to RSVP at ekas.club@gmail.com.
