It could be interesting to filter article with regular expression instead of simple include/exclude keywords.
I think it would be a great asset for Fr used by many advanced users.

Apart from regexes in smart feeds, it'd be great to hook some action if regexp is matched - i. e. item is marked as read.

Should definitely have regex. There could simply be a regex checkbox for all string matches. If checked, use regex.
